The Longueteau Family

1895-1927

Henri Longueteau

Henri Louis Philippe Longueteau (1895-1927) was the visionary behind the creation of the distillery. In 1895, he decided to transform the small sugar mill of the Domaine du Marquisat de Sainte-Marie into a producer of agricultural rum.The current walls of the distillery were built under his direction, and his iconic signature adorns all our rum bottles, a lasting testament to his legacy.

1927-1987

Henri Longueteau

Henri Adolphe Emmanuel Longueteau (1927-1987) marked a new era of change by taking over the distillery. In 1968, he replaced the water wheel with a steam-powered locomotive engine, modernizing the production process.

1987-2005

Paul Henri Longueteau

Although he joined the distillery in the late 1950s, it was not until 1988 that he became the owner of the Domaine du Marquisat de Sainte-Marie and, consequently, the distillery. He was a pioneer in exporting rum to mainland France.

2005

François Longueteau

Having entered the world of distillation in 1979, he developed extensive expertise in all aspects of the craft, particularly in distillation. He personally oversaw the redesign of the distillation column, which is still in use today.In 2005, he acquired the distillery and opened it to tourism. Today, he remains the guardian of the quality of our rums, ensuring they are in perfect harmony with the terroir.

2011

François Longueteau

He joined the distillery in 2011, taking over the marketing and commercial aspects of the estate. In 2012, he fell in love with the aging cellar, its atmosphere, and the aromatic potential it holds.He is the mastermind behind the Harmonie range, a true tribute to his father's craftsmanship. This was followed by the Genesis collection and, most notably, Sensoria, an in-depth exploration of the origins of oak.

2014

Nicolas
Longueteau

Joining in 2014, Nicolas was first entrusted by his father with overseeing the fermentation phases, a crucial step in structuring the aromas produced.In 2022, he expanded his expertise by becoming a distiller. His passion for white rum and the meticulous approach he applies throughout the entire process of transforming sugarcane into rum have given the distillery a now-iconic signature.
